It's a significant development in the Southwest world!
Ditch the dial! Can you now change your Southwest Companion Pass online?

The airline now allows pass holders to change their travel companion up to 3 times a year entirely online through Southwest's website. Previously, customers had to call customer service to request a change.
Here's what a Southwest spokesperson said about it:
"We've introduced new self-service options for customers to change their Companion on Southwest.com. This is currently only available on desktop, but we're exploring bringing it to the Southwest app as well."
This new online process eliminates the need to contact customer service to update the travel companion. Now, Southwest Companion Pass holders can easily book an unlimited number of flights for their partner, with only the $5.60 taxes and fees per one-way domestic trip remaining as the actual cost.

The Southwest Companion Pass is a great deal for air travelers, but it can be hard to earn. To get this pass, Rapid Rewards members need to take 100 one-way flights with Southwest or earn 135,000 points in a year. The pass is very valuable for frequent flyers.
Luckily, there are other ways to get the Companion Pass. Southwest sometimes offers promotions where you can earn the pass by meeting lower requirements. Applying for a Southwest credit card with a big sign-up bonus can also help you get most of the way to the 135,000 points needed.
Southwest has made some changes recently like adding red-eye flights for the first time. They also plan to put in slimmer new seats and change their open-boarding policy to assigned seating. These updates to the Companion Pass and other changes at Southwest have been controversial.
