Starting October 26, 2025, American Airlines will launch flights from Chicago O'Hare (ORD) to Honolulu (HNL) on a Boeing 787-8. These flights will use newer, bigger planes, giving passengers more premium seating choices.
Adding Honolulu (HNL) is part of American's plans to change their operations at O'Hare this year, with 9 new destinations benefiting from their larger aircraft and premium sections. Compared to last summer, the airline will add over 40% more premium seats from O'Hare.
"O'Hare has always been crucial for American, linking the Midwest to our global routes and bringing travelers to and from Chicago for work and leisure," said Ben Humphrey, American's Vice President of ORD Operations. "Boosting our network is a promise to our customers for top-notch service to their desired destinations."
Other new international spots with American include a direct flight to Naples, Italy (NAP) starting May 6, Madrid, Spain on March 30, and Halifax, Canada (YHZ) kicking off June 21. For those who prefer not just beach getaways, this year's new routes also highlight outdoor adventure places like Spokane, Washington (GEG), Bismarck, North Dakota (BIS), Boise, Idaho (BOI), and Colorado Springs (COS) launching June 5, plus Hyannis, Massachusetts (HYA) starting June 21. American offers direct flights to Cape Cod via HYA. They're also boosting the current services to Florida.
