U.S. airline company Southwest Airlines recently reported it had launched an internal investigation after a pilot used a phrase against U.S. President Joe Biden directed at passengers.
An Associated Press journalist earlier said that on a Houston-Albuquerque flight, the pilot ended his speech to passengers with the phrase "Let's go, Brandon," which is often used by Biden's opponents. These words became popular with Biden's critics in October after an interview with NASCAR driver Brandon Brown. During Brown's interview, viewers chanted foul language to Biden, but a reporter on the air said: "You can hear the audience chanting "Let's go, Brandon." The phrase is now found on T-shirts and in the U.S. congressional building.
After the incident with the anti-Biden slang, Southwest Airlines was criticized on social media.
"Southwest is conducting an internal investigation regarding the recent event and reminds all employees that expressing their personal opinions in public during work hours is not acceptable," the airline said in a statement posted on Twitter.
