JFK has a good amount of short-term/daily garages. If you happen to be flying out of Terminals 1,2,7 or 8, your best bet is to park in the Orange, Red or Green parking garages. For the first half an hour you will spend $4 and the first hour is then double that amount. And for every additional 30 minutes, it will cost you $4. Long-term parking lots are a lot further away from the airport located at Howard Beach and Lefferts Boulevard. As soon as you park, you have two options: either walk to the nearest station for the AirTrain shuttle or jump on a free shuttle bus making parking near JFK airport not such a hassle after all. The great thing about the AirTrain is that it connects to all the terminals and completely no cost at all from Lefferts Boulevard. JetBlue Parking at JFK
For the most part, JetBlue’s main terminal is located in Terminal 5 at JFK and usually, it can be a madhouse because so many passengers prefer flying with either JetBlue or Delta when planning for a trip. But the good news is the airport has so many yellow signs that make it easy to find your way around the airport. In Terminal 4, some of JetBlue’s international flights arrive there, making their short-term parking lot adjacent from the Terminals….perfect.
Is It Better to Pull to the Curb or To Park When Picking Up Passengers at JFK?
Well, if you ever noticed when trying to pick up a friend or family member at the airport it can seem like a hassle. In a nutshell, there are absolutely no parking spots available in front of the terminals and if your car is left unattended you could very well return to your car being towed. In the case that you are picking up someone in a wheelchair, children or an out-of-towner; it’s probably best to park in the short-term lot adjacent from each terminal and just walk to the terminal and meet up at the baggage claim.
In addition to the short-term parking lot, JFK airport also has two free Cell Phone Lots located near the JFK Expressway and the Van Wyck Expressway. As you wait for your family or friends to arrive you are allowed to park there and it’s only a five-minute drive from either lot to any terminal. If that’s not good enough, you can always take advantage of the Kiss and Fly at the AirTrain station at Lefferts Boulevard. Instead of having to deal with hustle and bustle of traffic at the terminal you can always drop your passengers off at Lefferts Boulevard AirTrain station and have them take the free AirTrain shuttle to their airline terminal.

Next time when planning a vacation whether long or short it’s always good to plan ahead. Keeping in mind that JFK airport is one of the busiest airports in the world. On any given day traffic is so thick that you can almost cut it with a knife going to and from the area. Ideally, you should give yourself at least one hour for travel sake but travel in New York City can be unpredictable during rush hour in the mornings and evenings that can last anywhere from 3-4 hours easily.
