News: CNN States It Removes Its Network from Airports. Twitter is Delighted. What's Actually Happening?

Many of the network's haters on social media rejoiced when CNN revealed on Tuesday, January 12th that it would stop its historic Airport Network. But why? Let's have a look at the situation together.

The CNN Airport Network will formally stop on March 31st, according to network president Jeff Zucker, who cited the following:

"Severe reduction in airport traffic due to Covid-19, coupled with all the different ways that consumers are accessing content on their personal devices."

Here's what he stated as well:

"It's really difficult to say goodbye to a brand that is so adored. In addition to celebrating the fact that the CNN Airport Network has informed millions of domestic travelers for 30 years, I would like to thank our friends and colleagues who have helped make it successful. It has also evolved into a recognizable aspect of traveling in this nation."

For years, CNN's opposers made fun of the anti-Trump network for relying so heavily on viewers from airports, whose numbers had plummeted for the majority of the Trump administration.

NewsBusters managing editor Curtis Houck tweeted, "Best. News. EVER."

"WTF, I love COVID now…" Editor of Spectator USA Amber Athey made a joke.

According to Daily Wire senior editor Emily Zanotti, "The year 2021 is already looking up."

Conservative analyst Matt Walsh joked that CNN has lost 95% of its audience.

Conservative Twitter user David Burge, in turn, remarked, "You hate to see it, and by that, I of course mean CNN at the airport."

As passengers waited at gates, bars, food courts, and baggage claim carousels for hours at a time, only CNN was broadcast on airport televisions throughout that time.

Since more sports and weather parts are introduced and some graphic video is removed, CNN Airport doesn't use the exact same feed as the regular CNN. Additionally, CNN Airport makes a point of avoiding airing any coverage of tragedies like plane accidents or other events that would alarm travelers.

In accordance with the agreement, CNN paid airports to keep the network on, and several major transport hubs even have arrangements wherein CNN pays for their TVs and infrastructure. The Philadelphia Inquirer earlier stated that as part of the contract, airports also get "up to six minutes each hour to promote the airport or nearby attractions."

Minneapolis-Saint Paul International's representative told Fox News in 2018 the following:

"CNN Airport covers the expenses connected with the TVs and related infrastructure, offers programs primarily oriented for airports, and pays us for the possibility to be in our building."

At the same time, Miami International's spokesperson merely referred to a document demonstrating that CNN is ready to pay the most.

Long-term agreements often allowed CNN to choose the content that visitors saw, whether they liked it or not. The eight-year pact, which was signed in 2016, promises Miami International Airport "a maximum yearly guarantee of $150,000," with the possibility of annual adjustments to keep the package competitive with those offered by other airports.

Years of agreements had blurred the distinctions between journalism and advertising, just as the network had done with political activism and reporting.

Traveling worldwide shouldn't be something tiring – conversely, that's the time you can enjoy both the amazing landscapes of our Earth and joint activities with your loved ones. Nevertheless, things don't always go as planned, and we're at risk to face some challenges even at such an enjoyable moment. One such problem is actually airport parking, specifically its price. Let's have a look at the situation a bit closer.

If you used to get to the airport you're flying from by your own car, you probably know what we're talking about – the question of parking cost arises every time. You'll be definitely shocked – even though most US airports provide travelers with on-site parking, which allows them to leave their vehicles for their entire journey there, such a parking type is unfairly overpriced. Choosing this parking option, your next trip just might cost you a fortune. And that's not even considering it's complicated to find a free parking spot for your car. Since nobody wants to waste money and travel inconveniently, there begs the following question: is there actually any solution?

And we're happy to say – yes, there is one!

What is off-site parking and why is it worth choosing this option exactly?

  • Crowded parking lots,
  • Carrying the luggage all the way through the parking lot,
  • Expensive fees without great service, and much more.

Everything works simply as well: after you've driven to the entrance, you'll be met by a parking lot staff who will take your luggage from your vehicle and load it onto the shuttle, which will take you and your bags to the airport terminal. Then, your car will be securely parked at the parking lot itself.

By the way, free shuttles going back and forth between the parking lot and the airport terminals are available 24/7. All that's required of you is to make a call and inform staff about the time suitable for you.
