Californians now have a new option for a weekend getaway to Las Vegas. This week, the budget airline Avelo launched a new route from LA's Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR) to Las Vegas' Harry Reid International Airport (LAS). To celebrate the new route, the airline is offering introductory one-way fares for $57.
The new flight route will commence next month on May 3rd, just in time for the Memorial Day holiday weekend and the summer travel season. Avelo had successfully piloted the flight during the Super Bowl, which Las Vegas hosted earlier this year, as mentioned in the news release.
Avelo Airlines' Founder, Chairman, and CEO Andrew Levy expressed their encouragement over the strong customer response they received when they offered special flights between BUR and LAS for the big game in February. He said they look forward to offering travelers Avelo's everyday affordability, convenience, and reliability between these two vibrant cities.

The new route will operate on a Boeing 737 aircraft, with flights scheduled every Friday and Sunday. On Fridays, the flights depart Burbank at 12:45 p.m. and arrive in Las Vegas at 1:50 p.m. The return flight departs Las Vegas at 2:20 p.m. and reaches Burbank at 3:25 p.m. Avelo representatives stated that the flight schedule was designed to accommodate weekend visitors to Las Vegas.
Avelo, founded in April 2021, currently operates 14 different routes from Burbank Airport, including destinations like Sonoma, CA, and Portland, OR. The airline claims to have achieved the most reliable air service in 2023, as measured by the lowest cancellation rate, according to independent firm Anuvu.
Las Vegas has experienced a significant surge in tourism, with a record-setting 57 million passengers in 2023. The entertainment hub is expected to welcome new and returning performers in 2024, including David Blaine at Wynn Las Vegas and Garth Brooks at Caesars Palace.
