Etihad Airways is providing round-trip passengers with the opportunity to stop over in Abu Dhabi at no additional cost.

The new stopover program allows travelers who book a roundtrip flight directly on the airline's website, etihad.com, to add up to 2 free hotel nights in the city. Passengers can include the stopover during the booking process.
Here's what Antonoaldo Neves, the Chief Executive Officer of Etihad, said about it:
"We plan to welcome more than 100,000 visitors to Abu Dhabi through the stopover program over the next year, and we're confident that once they experience what the capital has to offer, they'll return for more. We're thrilled to be collaborating with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi to showcase the emirate's offerings to the world."
For the stopover, travelers can choose from 3- and 4-star hotels. However, breakfast and other extras aren't included in the complimentary stay.

Travelers taking advantage of the stopover will need to pay a small $9.99 fee. The stopover isn't available during certain holidays and peak periods, including from November 3rd to November 8th, from December 5th to December 8th, and December 23rd to January 2nd.
Etihad's boarding pass not only provides complimentary hotel accommodation, but it also serves as the Abu Dhabi Pass, allowing travelers to enjoy savings on popular attractions, such as the Louvre Abu Dhabi.
Etihad isn't the only airline offering a free stopover program. Other carriers, including Icelandair and TAP Air Portugal, provide the opportunity for travelers to stop in their hub cities without any extra charge. Previously, Etihad had a different free stopover program specifically for first-class, business-class, and "The Residence" passengers.
The decision to allow more travelers to stop in Abu Dhabi coincides with Etihad's launch of a new flight between Boston and Abu Dhabi, as well as the reintroduction of its Airbus A380 aircraft on one of its two daily flights between the United Arab Emirates city and New York. This aircraft, which was originally set to be retired during the pandemic, features an incredible three-room first class suite known as "The Residence."
In addition, Etihad has recently expanded its partnership with JetBlue, enabling travelers to earn and redeem points in each carrier's loyalty program.
