During the company's annual product showcase, Uber explained that shuttles will offer a more affordable ride and reduce congestion in high traffic areas. Shuttles operate similar to a ticketed bus, where passengers reserve a seat on a vehicle that can accommodate up to 55 people per trip.
Here's what Anthony le Roux, the General Manager of Uber Shuttle, shared in a product presentation:
"Uber Shuttle is coming soon for travelers, sports fans, and concert goers."
Regarding the new product rollout, le Roux described the airport shuttle service as a "pilot" project with airport partners, but didn't disclose which specific airports would be part of this new offering.

The shuttle service will initially launch with transportation to concert venues in Chicago, Charlotte, and Pittsburgh. It'll also be extended to Miami's Hard Rock Stadium, home of the Miami Dolphins, and potentially more locations.
The company also stated the following:
"The cost of the shuttle service will be a fraction of UberX's price."
As an example, a trip in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania from a designated downtown drop-off to PNC Music Pavilion would cost $15 on Uber Shuttle, compared to an UberXL price of $44.99.
In addition, the company announced enhancements and discounts for the Uber One membership, which waives delivery fees on food and groceries, as well as other perks. College students can now subscribe to Uber One for $4.99 per month, instead of the regular $9.99 per month. Costco shoppers will soon be able to order through the Uber app and receive a 20% discount on the membership.
