Arriving passengers who use Uber, Lyft, or similar services will need to exit the airport, board the rideshare shuttle, and then meet their driver at the designated pickup point. The airport has posted signage to guide passengers, with specific codes for the Uber ("K2") and Lyft ("M1") pickup areas.
The airport has defined peak time as 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. EST, and the shuttle service will operate every 1-2 minutes to accommodate the increased demand. However, passengers departing from Terminal 4 will still be able to be dropped off directly in front of the terminal.

Terminal 4 at the airport serves various airlines, including AeroMexico, Air India, Avianca, Caribbean, China Airlines, China Southern, Delta, EL AL Israel Airlines, Emirates, Etihad, Hawaiian Airlines, JetBlue, Singapore Airlines, Virgin Atlantic, and WestJet.
The Port Authority Executive Director, Rick Cotton, acknowledged the challenge of serving a record number of summer travelers while the construction of the new John F. Kennedy International is at its peak. As a result, the agency has implemented strategies to reduce the number of vehicles coming to the terminal frontages.
To alleviate the congestion, the agency has maintained a remote lot during peak hours.
Both Lyft and Uber have confirmed their communication and close collaboration with the airport to minimize disruption to travelers. Uber has actively provided recommendations to further minimize any inconveniences.
Lyft has shared that they'll still be able to provide Black and Black XL rides at the curb at all times. In addition, Lyft is working to ensure quick matching at the remote lot and improved walking directions to make it easy for passengers to find the pickup area.
