Starting on April 16th, 2026, the company will sail from the City of Brotherly Love to destinations, such as Bermuda, Canada, and New England. Norwegian will begin with 7- to 9-day voyages to Bermuda on the Norwegian Jewel vessel, followed by the addition of 10- and 11-day trips to Canada and New England in the fall.
In a statement, David J. Herrera, the president of Norwegian Cruise Line, expressed the company's commitment to providing more experiences for their guests to create unforgettable memories, allowing them to vacation better. Herrera also expressed pride in partnering with PhilaPort to launch cruising in the area, making it more accessible to the US Mid-Atlantic region.
The cruise line will operate from the Southport Marine Terminal Complex, becoming the first passenger cruise line to homeport in Philadelphia in years, according to the port. Norwegian plans to sail from Philadelphia through October 17th, 2026.
Pennsylvania's Governor, Josh Shapiro, stated that the new cruises will provide "millions of Pennsylvanians and passengers from across the region… another reason to visit Philadelphia's waterfront."
Shapiro also stated the following:
"As Philadelphia prepares to celebrate its 250th anniversary in 2026, the Port will continue to support and expand the city's tourism industry, creating economic opportunities for the region, workers, and businesses."
The Norwegian Jewel underwent a refurbishment in 2022, now accommodating 2,330 passengers. Guests can enjoy the captivating Le Cirque Bijou shows, as well as a 1950's-themed bar overlooking the pool, complete with classic car parts and vintage gas station signage.
This is not the cruise line's first new East Coast homeport announced this year. Starting in November 2025, the company will also offer sailings from a new home in Jacksonville, Florida, providing trips to destinations like St. Thomas and St. John's in the US Virgin Islands, San Juan, Puerto Rico, and the company's private island in the Bahamas, Great Stirrup Cay.
