Uber, the popular ridesharing app, will be offering a 10% discount on rides for passengers from Paris airports between July 22nd and September 8th. This discount applies to arrivals from both Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) and Orly Airport Aéroport de Paris (ORY). In addition, passengers can save 30% by using UberX Share within the city, as long as they're matched with another rider during the trip.
The transportation company has also created a special website for information specific to the Olympics. More details about the 10% discount on airport rides and the 30% discount on UberX Share rides will be posted on this site and Uber's social media in the coming days.
Here's what Laureline Serieys, Uber's General Manager of Ride Operations in France, said in a statement:
"We're excited to host tourists from all around the world in Paris this summer, and as a token of our appreciation, we're providing all riders with a welcome discount when requesting a pickup from one of the major Paris airports or train stations."
According to France's Tourism Ministry, over 15.3 million people are expected to visit Paris for both the 2024 Olympic Games and the 2024 Paralympic Games. This figure represents a significant increase from the 6.4 million travelers who visited the city during the same period in 2023, highlighting the surge in tourism for the upcoming summer events.
In response to the anticipated influx of passengers, Uber is encouraging travelers to explore alternative modes of transportation within France. This includes reserving rides in advance through Uber Reserve and utilizing Lime e-bikes, which can also be booked through the Uber app.
In addition, Uber has advised that a combination of Uber rides and public transportation, such as the Métro, can sometimes be a faster and more efficient way to get to venues, allowing travelers to avoid the more crowded areas.
