Travelers enrolled in the program will now be able to use the expedited airport security benefits when flying with Caribbean Airlines and RED Air, according to the TSA. These airlines join over 100 other carriers that participate in the Trusted Traveler program.
The TSA said that enrolled passengers must have the TSA PreCheck indicator on their boarding pass before approaching an airport checkpoint. This will confirm they're eligible for the TSA PreCheck screening. The agency added that most TSA PreCheck passengers wait less than 10 minutes in the dedicated lanes at airport checkpoints nationwide.
Caribbean Airlines is based in Trinidad and Tobago. The airline is jointly owned by Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica. Caribbean Airlines flies to destinations across the Caribbean, North, and South America, including places in the United States like Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Orlando, New York City, and Puerto Rico.
RED Air was launched in 2021 and is based in the Dominican Republic.
Travelers who are enrolled in the TSA PreCheck program can go through airport security without having to remove their shoes, belts, or light jackets. They can also leave their laptops and liquids in their bags. To sign up, people need to fill out an online application and then schedule an in-person interview. Once they're enrolled, the program is good for 5 years.
Children can go through the PreCheck lane with their parents or guardians who are in the program.
In August, the program reached a big milestone, with more than 20 million travelers signed up.
The TSA is also adding more airlines to the program all the time. This includes popular international carriers like Aer Lingus, Air New Zealand, the all-business class airline La Compagnie, and the Spanish airline Iberia.
