The Atlanta-based airline boasted an impressive on-time rate of 83.46% for the year, according to data from aviation analytics company Cirium. This rate also earned the airline the 3rd-best ranking globally, trailing only behind Mexico's Aeroméxico and Saudi Arabia's Saudia.
Cirium's Chief Marketing Officer, Mike Malik, commented on the significance of Delta's global ranking, considering the airline's sheer size, with over 1.6 million flights operated each year. This achievement was even more remarkable given the dip in July when Delta was significantly impacted by the CrowdStrike IT meltdown.
Malik further emphasized the following:
"That's a phenomenal number, and to maintain that level of performance is an incredible feat. The complexity and vastness of this airline's operations, coupled with the impressive numbers they post, are simply incredible."

United Airlines came in 2nd in the United States with an on-time rate of 80.93%. Alaska Airlines followed with an on-time rate of 79.25%, and American Airlines had an on-time rate of 77.78%. Southwest Airlines rounded out the top 5 with an on-time rate of 77.77%.
Frontier Airlines was the least on-time in the United States with a rate of just 71.57%. JetBlue had an on-time rate of 74.53%.
Cirium considers an airline "on time" when a scheduled flight arrives within 14 minutes and 59 seconds of the scheduled arrival time.
When it came to airports, travelers in the United States had the most luck at Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC), which came in at No. 4 globally with an on-time rate of 83.8%. Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) came in at No. 6 with an on-time rate of 82.27%. Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) came in at No. 7 with an on-time rate of 82.23%. And Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) came in at No. 8 with an on-time rate of 82.06%.
The King Khalid International Airport (RUH) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, was the most punctual airport globally, with an on-time rate of 86.65%. Meanwhile, the Jorge Chavez International Airport (LIM) in Lima, Peru, took the 2nd spot worldwide, with an on-time rate of 84.57%.
