Now, CV Villas, a travel agency in London, has gone further to see which waters make people happiest. Using AWS Facial Recognition software, they analyzed thousands of Instagram photos from over 100 beaches worldwide to find the spots that make people smile the most.
All the top spots were in Europe – Spain's Sitges Beach claimed the top spot – while Cannon Beach in the Pacific Northwest was the No. 1 "happiest" beach in the USA.
If you've been to the Oregon coast, you might not be surprised. Cannon Beach is beautiful. It's known for Haystack Rock, a 235-foot basalt sea stack where tufted puffins have their young each year.
