Having recently emerged from bankruptcy protection,
"We are significantly enhancing travel options for our Detroit passengers, providing them with a diverse selection of new destinations to explore across the country and beyond," stated John Kirby, Vice President of Network Planning at Spirit Airlines, in a press release. "Discerning travelers from the Motor City will soon benefit from an even greater range of choices to enjoy Spirit's enhanced travel experience, all at a value that remains unmatched by other carriers."
The new routes being introduced at DTW include:
- Birmingham (BHM) starting June 13, 2025 (operating 2 times per week)
- Hartford (BDL) starting June 12, 2025 (operating daily)
- Louisville (SDF) starting June 13, 2025 (operating 2 times per week)
- Milwaukee (MKE) starting June 13, 2025 (operating 2 times per week)
- Norfolk (ORF) starting May 8, 2025 (operating 4 times per week)
- Punta Cana (PUJ) starting June 12, 2025 (operating 3 times per week)
- Richmond (RIC) starting June 12, 2025 (operating 3 times per week)
- Salt Lake City (SLC) starting June 13, 2025 (operating 3 times per week)
- St. Louis (STL) starting June 12, 2025 (operating 4 times per week)
The additional returning routes at DTW include:
- Austin (AUS) starting June 12, 2025 (operating 4 times per week)
- Charleston (CHS) starting May 9, 2025 (operating 2 to 4 times per week)
- Kansas City (MCI) starting May 8, 2025 (operating 2 times per week)
- Phoenix (PHX) starting June 12, 2025 (operating daily)
- San Diego (SAN) starting June 12, 2025 (operating 4 times per week)
- San Juan (SJU) starting June 12, 2025 (operating 4 times per week)
