- United Airlines just refreshed the fees and perks for its travel credit cards.
- Cardholders can now use credits for ride-sharing and hotel bookings.
- The airline collaborates with Chase Bank for its credit card offerings.
A selection of popular travel credit cards has undergone enhancements, featuring new perks and adjusted pricing.
Each credit card within the United portfolio has been augmented with new benefits, and the airline has also introduced a novel card designed to cater to travelers seeking expanded advantages.
The United Explorer card, previously available at an annual fee of $95, will now be priced at $150. This card now includes a $60 rideshare credit, $100 in United Hotels credit, a 3-month Instacart subscription, and other added perks to its benefit package.
The United Quest card, previously announced with an annual fee of $350, will now incorporate a range of benefits, including $200 in United travel credits, 2 global Economy Plus upgrade certificates, and bonus PQP points, which facilitate the attainment of higher MileagePlus status tiers.
For the most frequent flyers, the airline is enhancing its United Club card, which carries an annual fee of $695, to encompass a United Club membership, $150 in rideshare credits, and a 20,000-mile award flight discount. United asserts that this card provides over $2,000 in total value. Its prior annual fee was $525.
Businesses and small business owners can apply for United business cards, which offer comparable perks, such as travel benefits and club access.
Travelers can access comprehensive information regarding the card lineup on the United Airlines website.
"We have tailored these cards to accommodate a diverse array of needs and travel preferences – resulting in an unparalleled suite of benefits for United customers," stated Richard Nunn, CEO of United Airlines MileagePlus, in a statement. "The most efficient way to experience the full spectrum of MileagePlus benefits is through the acquisition of a United Card."
For new cardholders, the updated fees and benefits are effective immediately. For existing cardholders, the benefits are implemented today, while the fee adjustments will take effect on or after August 1, except for the Explorer Card, which will change on January 1, 2026.
Airlines have long established partnerships with banks and other financial institutions to provide travel benefits and mileage accrual through credit card programs. For instance, Delta Air Lines collaborates with American Express to offer credit cards to frequent flyers, who accumulate Delta SkyMiles for purchases and other activities. Similarly, American Airlines partners with Citi to provide its AAdvantage miles.
