Although spring is in full swing, travelers can anticipate an increase in winter getaway options to southern destinations.

American Airlines will introduce new international routes to Mexico and the Dominican Republic, thereby augmenting its existing network of over 270 international routes.

On November 8th, service will commence from Will Rogers World Airport (OKC) in Oklahoma City to Cancun International Airport (CUN). On December 6th, American Airlines will launch 4 new routes to Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) from Indianapolis International Airport (IND), Nashville International Airport (BNA), Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT), and Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU).

"With the addition of new routes, increased flight frequencies on popular routes, and extended seasonal service to key destinations, American's schedule is crafted to facilitate winter getaways to sun-soaked beaches and other appealing locales," stated Brian Znotins, American's Senior Vice President of Network Planning, in a statement.

Punta Cana and Cancun are both renowned for their pristine beaches and all-inclusive resorts, such as the Grand Palladium Palace Resort, Spa & Casino in Punta Cana and the AVA Resort Cancun in Mexico. Cancun also provides convenient access to historical Mayan sites, notably Chichén Itzá.
