United Airlines, one of the most significant carriers in the United States, has announced the beginning of the process of firing 600 of its employees who have not complied with management's decision on the mandatory vaccination against Covid-19, reported The Hill. That's about 1 percent of the airline's total workforce.
"It was a tough decision, but ensuring the safety of our team has always been our highest priority," the publication cited a joint statement from airline CEO Scott Kirby and President Brett Hart.
The Hill notes that United Airlines is currently the only major U.S. airline firing employees for refusing to vaccinate.
