Through this transition, Niagara Falls State Park will absorb Whirlpool and Devil's Hole state parks as designated northern zones, linked by two miles of new paths along the scenic Gorge corridor.
The redefined boundaries of Niagara Falls State Park will now reach from the Niagara Scenic Parkway in the south all the way to the Niagara Power Vista Visitor's Center in the north.
This expansion aims to draw the millions of tourists visiting the Falls toward the northern areas, as 2024 data shows Niagara Falls State Park hosted 9.5 million guests while Whirlpool and Devil's Hole saw significantly lower traffic.
Regional Director Mark Mistretta noted that while the main park is famous, many visitors aren't aware of the northern sections, so the rebranding is designed to help people better navigate the entire area.
With a unified trail system, the park now provides 5 miles of continuous shoreline views and access to sites like the Aquarium of Niagara, making it as easy to plan a visit as finding off-airport parking for your trip.
New signage will be rolled out this spring, alongside planned improvements to transportation and guest facilities to ensure a smoother experience than navigating typical domestic airport parking charges.
If visitor numbers rise in these northern zones, officials plan to build more playgrounds, snack areas, and scenic overlooks to provide travelers with the same value they look for when seeking airport parking deals.
