Starting February 18, 2027, the 7-night Ski Trip in the Viking Fjords departs from Tromsø, Norway, allowing guests to ski fresh Arctic slopes directly from the ship each day. Beyond the slopes, travelers can paddle through snowy fjords, fish for their meals, track reindeer, or snowshoe across scenic polar trails before relaxing with an Arctic-inspired cocktail.

This voyage is part of five new 2027 expeditions debuting on Captain Arctic, the French cruise line's first sailing vessel, which launches early next year.

Designed for 36 passengers, the ship boasts impressive environmental standards, aiming to run on wind and solar power 90% of the time with a zero-waste policy. Its innovative design features five solar-panelled sails that fold down like a Swiss Army knife when necessary.

The vessel is built for extreme conditions and will remain in the Arctic year-round to offer low-carbon adventures, moving between Svalbard, Greenland, and Norway depending on the season. To reach these remote departures, travelers often look for affordable airport parking before heading north.

Selar co-founder and CEO Sophie Galvagnon, a veteran captain in the region, noted that the company offers a bold and exclusive way to explore untamed landscapes alongside expert guides.

Other upcoming trips include Svalbard in the Midnight Sun, a 12-night journey starting July 18, 2027, featuring 24-hour daylight for hiking dunes, visiting trapper huts, tracking polar bears, and kayaking near glaciers. When you purchase to fly to Longyearbyen for this trip, you can expect an immersive education on local fauna.

On September 9, 2027, the Untamed Greenland expedition departs from Constable Point to explore the massive icebergs of Scoresby Sund. This 12-night trip includes encounters with Eastern Inuit communities, polar plunges, and onboard art masterclasses.

The In Pursuit of Northern Lights voyage departs Tromsø on October 24, 2027, focusing on aurora sightings, photography workshops, surfing in the Lofoten Islands, and lessons in astronomical navigation. Before leaving home, checking rates for airport parking can help streamline the start of such a long journey.

The Dancing with Orcas expedition, running from November 5 to 11, 2027, offers the chance to snorkel with orcas and watch whales during the peak of the Northern Lights season.

Captain Arctic uses eco-friendly propulsion to glide silently through the water without bothering marine life. Unlike traditional cruises, Selar avoids fixed day-by-day schedules to ensure the journey remains authentic.

Galvagnon emphasizes that their DNA is rooted in unplanned itineraries that adapt to nature, ensuring guests get the most out of the shifting Arctic environment.
