Canadian air carrier Flair Airlines debuts flights from San Francisco International Airport with nonstops to Vancouver, British Columbia, and Edmonton, Alberta.
The nonstop flight from SFO to Vancouver starts on May 17 and will be operated three times a week. The SFO flight to Edmonton without stops begins on April 14 and will run twice a week.
The dominant carrier of SFO, United Airlines (Nasdaq: UAL), operates nonstop flights from SFO to Vancouver along with Air Canada and other carriers or their subsidiaries. Currently, no airline operates nonstop flights from SFO to Edmonton.
Sometimes, Flair chooses small airports rather than flights to the largest airport in the region. For example, the company flies to Hollywood Burbank Airport, not to Los Angeles International Airport. The airline follows a similar strategy with smaller airports in Phoenix and Orlando, Florida.
Flair offers a low base rate and then charges an additional fee for the choice of seats, luggage, and other services. Besides, it serves or plans to soon debut nonstops from Canada to Denver, Nashville, Las Vegas, Fort Lauderdale, and Palm Springs.
