Ed Bastian, Delta CEO, along with other airline CEOs, sent a letter to Joe Biden on March 23th, asking to lift all the Covid-19 restrictions, such as the federal mask requirement on airplanes and in airports that was recently extended to April 18. Besides, the CEOs urged the White House to remove the international pre-departure testing requirement for U.S. inbound customers.
Here’s what Bastian said about it:
"Given the improved public health indicators in the U.S. and medical advances to prevent the worst COVID-19 outcomes, the federal mask mandate and pre-departure testing are no longer consistent with the current environment."
"We appreciate the federal government's leadership during a pandemic. Current data and science show that it's time to move beyond mandates to leadership and personal health choices," he added.
