American Airlines, based in Fort Worth, reported that Ganesh Jayaram has been chosen Executive Vice President and Chief Digital and Information Officer with effect from September 1st.
He will answer Robert Isom, the CEO of AA.
Isom stated in the release that "Ganesh has a proven ability to foster innovation in large, complex multinational companies that are focused on operational reliability." "As he takes over as our technology team leader, his leadership style, worldwide expertise, and success in developing and implementing both business and technology strategy will serve him tremendously well. Early next month, we anticipate him joining our senior staff."
Jayaram joins American Airlines (Nasdaq: AAL) from Deere & Company, where he served as its Chief Information Officer and oversaw the company's information technology department since 2016.
Jayaram formerly held positions with Canon USA Inc. and the Danaher Corporation. Boston Consulting Group was where he started his career. The Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi awarded Jayaram a Bachelor of Technology, and Northwestern University awarded him a Doctor of Philosophy in Materials Science and Engineering.
Maya Leibman, who earlier stated she would be moving to the United Kingdom for family reasons, is succeeded by Jayaram. Through the end of the year, Leibman will assist in leading the transition; starting in 2023, she will assume new international responsibilities. She began working at American in 1994, and as of January 2012, she is the airline's CIO.
Isom noted in the statement that "Maya has been a central leader in American's progress over the past decade." "Our entire business has been impacted by her leadership, and we are grateful for what she has accomplished. We feel that she has prepared us effectively for this change, and we look forward to her continuing to lead American Airlines."
