Latest News: Sky Harbor is Still Recovering from Its Summertime Problems

News 2022-11-08 ParkingNearAirports.io
Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport reached the monthly total number of passengers for 2021 for the first time in a few months in August, but the airport – and commercial aviation in general – is still far from stabilizing from the Covid-19 pandemic.

The largest airport in the state reported 3,481,624 passengers passing through its terminals in August, according to a report from the Phoenix Aviation Department released on September 30th. That was a 2.3% increase from August of 2021, but a 4.7% decline from August of 2019, before the outbreak.

In 2022, the commercial aviation sector experienced several issues, with the summer season being the worst hit. Over the past few months, many flights were canceled due to labor difficulties brought on by the Covid-19 crisis and weather disasters, which ultimately hurt airlines more because of their staff shortages.

Consumers are aware of the problems facing the sector, as evidenced by a recent J.D. Power research showing a 25-point decline in overall satisfaction with airports nationwide. In the 2022 North America Airport Satisfaction Study, Sky Harbor particularly was ranked 11th with a score that was below average in the "Mega Airport" category but close to the midpoint. Sky Harbor scored 765 out of a possible 1,000 points.

Even though Sky Harbor experienced more visitors in August than it did the year before, 5.4% fewer planes landed in August than they did in August of 2021. In August 2022, 14,184 flights made a total of 14,184 landings at Sky Harbor.

Southwest and United witness passenger growth

United Airlines (NYSE: UAL) and Southwest Airlines (NYSE: LUV) both witnessed a rise in passengers of 5.1% and 12.3%, respectively. The overall number of passengers carried by some airlines at Sky Harbor, including Alaska Airlines (27.8%) and Frontier Airlines (3.5%), increased year over year as well.

Although the airport and several of its airlines can rejoice about a year-over-year boost in traffic last month, air travel actually decreased in August 2021 as a result of a spike in Covid-19 cases after significant gains for the aviation business earlier last summer. Since the Covid-19 pandemic began in March 2020, July 2021 marked the first time that passenger levels were on par with 2019 levels. However, just one month later, due to the Delta variant of Covid, those numbers began to decline, resulting in a 7% drop in passenger numbers from August 2019 to August 2021.

In addition to the latest news about the major US airport, Phoenix Sky Harbor, we would also like to give you one helpful tip – such information will be handy for those who prefer traveling by air and getting to the airport by their own car.

There is no question that a safe parking space must be arranged for your vehicle during a trip. However, in most cases, people aren't ready to spend a lot of money on this. It is a common problem among travelers, as they know that on-site parking (it may seem that it is the best option for this case) is pretty costly. So what can we do then?

We are glad to inform you that our booking platform, ParkingNearAirports.io, offers travelers online reservations for parking just outside airports that are convenient and affordable. Our experienced team is dedicated to providing travelers parking options at over 100 airports in the US and Canada. In addition, the app allows customers to search and compare parking rates at up to 70 percent savings compared to the cost of on-site parking at all major airports.

Being nearby doesn't always mean convenience when it comes to airport parking. Being in terminal parking is not convenient at all. Travelers have to find a spot in a crowded lot, carry their luggage throughout the parking lot, and pay high fees without great service. The off-airport parking provides excellent service with their award-winning customer service representatives available 24/7. In addition, the app looks for lots that offer baggage assistance and 24-hour security for peace of mind.

With our platform, it only takes a few clicks in the app to reserve a parking spot. Guests receive a booking confirmation and a guaranteed parking space upon arrival at the off-airport parking. In addition, the app helps customers locate the most convenient lots to the airport. Cancellations are easy if plans change with hassle-free, refundable cancellations.

Off-airport parking lots often provide free shuttle going back and forth between the parking lot and the airport, removing any worry of traveling to and from the airport or getting stuck in traffic on the way to the airport during peak hours. Arrive on time for flights and receive significant savings with airport parking.

Besides this, we also offer services for top cruise ports in Florida, Louisiana, Maryland, New Jersey, and Texas.

Let's take a good example. Imagine that you live in Phoenix, Arizona. If you're planning a trip to Dallas, Texas, you can choose cheap Sky Harbor off-site parking. If you're coming from any other state or city, the situation is the same. So it depends just on where you are flying from.

Also, please don't forget about the airport coupons. Such a coupon can easily help you save money at the beginning of your trip, making the price for parking almost two times less. So if we talk about the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, you can use a special Sky Harbor parking coupon.
