The accolade was bestowed upon Qatar Airways by AirlineRatings.com, a leading authority on airline assessments. Their comprehensive evaluation considered major safety and government audits, as well as a dozen different criteria, including fleet age, passenger reviews, safety ratings, and innovative offerings.
Here's what Geoffrey Thomas, AirlineRatings.com Editor-in-Chief, stated:
"In our objective analysis, Qatar Airways emerged as №1 airline in many key areas, though the competition for the top 10 spots was extremely close. The passenger reviews, however, placed Qatar Airways ahead of all other airlines, and the consistency and high standard of their service delivery was evident in the feedback."
In addition to claiming the top position on the list, Qatar Airways also earned the accolades for best business-class (a title it has maintained for 5 consecutive years) and best catering.
This prestigious ranking comes as Qatar Airways announces plans to outfit its entire fleet with SpaceX's Starlink high-speed Wi-Fi within the next 2 years. The complimentary Wi-Fi service will be installed on 3 of the airline's Boeing 777-300 aircraft by the final quarter of 2024.
After Qatar, Korean Air was ranked as the 2nd-best premium airline in the world according to the AirlineRatings.com list. Cathay Pacific Airways, Air New Zealand, and Emirates followed, rounding out the top 5. In addition, Air New Zealand was recognized for having the best economy-class, while Singapore Airlines won the distinction of offering the best first-class service.

In the United States, Hawaiian Airlines was the top-rated carrier, coming in at №18 on the overall list. Alaska Airlines followed closely at №19. Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, and American Airlines secured the 23rd, 24th, and 25th spots, respectively, on the top 25 list.
