Delta is introducing a new premium class called Premium Select on its prominent domestic route between New York and Los Angeles. According to Maurico Parise, Delta's vice president for brand experience design, this new offering will provide customers with enhanced comfort, luxury, and practicality. Parise noted that the Premium Select product has been successful internationally, especially after recent onboard improvements, and Delta expects customers traveling between the 2 major cities will appreciate the opportunity to enjoy a more spacious seat and premium experience.

In addition to the new Premium Select class, flights between New York and Los Angeles will also feature Delta's existing cabin classes, including Delta One, Delta Comfort+, and Main Cabin.

A search for a one-way flight on September 10th from JFK to LAX revealed that tickets for the Premium Select class start at $604 for the 8 a.m. non-stop flight. In comparison, the same flight is priced at $154 for basic economy, $204 for Main Cabin, $354 for Comfort+, and $1,549 for Delta One.

Delta has announced that its SkyMiles Medallion members will now be eligible for complimentary upgrades to Delta Premium Select on domestic flights. These upgrades will follow the same timing and priority as complimentary upgrades to first-class.

Delta's Premium Select is the airline's version of premium economy. It offers a range of amenities, including a fold-out leg and footrest, expedited check-in, security, and baggage services, as well as the option to pre-select a delectable meal, such as summer vegetable lasagna with parmesan cream sauce and cherry tomatoes. On board, travelers can also enjoy a memory foam pillow, noise-canceling headsets, and a premium amenity kit from Someone Somewhere.

Delta first introduced the Premium Select cabin in 2017 and has since made it available on most of the airline's Pacific and transatlantic flights, as well as on select routes to Latin America.

The decision to extend Premium Select to cross-country flights comes as Delta continues to upgrade its aircraft. The airline is outfitting its Boeing 737-800 aircraft with the newest First Class seat, refreshing some Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin seats with new 10-inch Panasonic seatback screens and touchless features in bathrooms. In addition, Delta is in the process of adding more lie-flat Delta One seats to its Airbus A350-900 aircraft.
