The TSA PreCheck program offers a dedicated lane for pre-approved travelers, enabling much quicker security processing. Travelers in this program can keep their shoes, belts, and light jackets on, as well as their laptops and liquids in their carry-on bags. Moreover, children under 17 traveling with enrolled adults can also use the PreCheck lane.
For a lengthy period, individuals planning to travel had to complete an online application, pay the $78 enrollment fee, and schedule an in-person interview to finalize the process. However, the agency has now broadened the options for enrollment, allowing travelers to sign up (or renew their 5-year membership) at participating Clear lanes located in major airports, such as Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) and Denver International Airport (DEN).
The TSA is also making continuous efforts to enhance the airport security experience in various ways, including the expansion of its mobile ID program to more states. Currently, the program is available for travelers holding licenses issued in Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Iowa, Louisiana, Maryland, New York, and Utah.
