Infuriating habits on airplanes
The survey asked participants to evaluate a wide range of passenger behaviors, ranging from making phone calls to removing shoes on flights, and categorize them as "acceptable," "unacceptable," or "not sure." The majority of respondents found certain behaviors, such as pushing the call button to request refreshments (67%), waking up a seatmate to use the bathroom (72%), and using a laptop on the tray table (81%), to be acceptable.
In contrast, over 60% of passengers considered behaviors like not setting electronic devices to airplane mode, exiting the plane before those in front, not listening to the safety demonstration, eating strong-smelling food, using both armrests when seated next to someone, and leaving trash in the seatback pocket as unacceptable.
In addition, over 80% of respondents deemed specific actions as unacceptable, including watching a movie without headphones (81%), leaving their seat during turbulence (82%), getting drunk (82%), and, most notably, allowing children to play in the aisle (86%). The survey's findings suggest that passengers should be mindful of their in-flight behavior, such as limiting pre-flight drinks, keeping a close eye on children, obeying the seatbelt sign, and using noise-canceling headphones.
