The kids have gone out for Halloween treats, and as Americans sip their Pumpkin Spice Lattes, airlines are unveiling a selection of new sun-filled routes to prepare for the cooler temperatures and travelers who are keen to get away.


In the most recent updates, November has seen both large and small airlines introduce numerous new routes to appealing destinations in Florida, the Caribbean, and even Hawaii.

Heading for the Sunshine State

American Airlines, along with budget airlines Allegiant Air, Avelo Airlines, and Breeze Airways, are introducing new routes to Florida this month.


American Airlines will start 3 new routes from New York's LaGuardia Airport (LGA) to Fort Myers, Orlando, and Tampa on November 5th. One-way economy fares for these flights, which are over 3 hours long and depart throughout the day, start as low as $64 to Orlando and Tampa and $79 to Fort Myers.


Allegiant Air is adding 7 new routes to the Sunshine State. The budget carrier will connect West Palm Beach to Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Punta Gorda to Savannah, Georgia, starting November 14th. On November 15th, they'll add routes from Fort Lauderdale to Newburgh, New York, and Savannah, Destin to Flint, Michigan, and St. Petersburg-Clearwater to Savannah. Allegiant will also start a route from Sarasota to Portsmouth, New Hampshire on November 23rd. Introductory one-way fares for these new routes, which only operate certain days of the week, range from $39 to $69.


Avelo Airlines is expanding in Lakeland, Florida, which is about halfway between Orlando and Tampa. They'll start new non-stop flights to Atlanta, Hartford, and Wilmington, Delaware on November 7th and 8th. The Atlanta and Wilmington flights will run on Thursdays and Sundays, while the Hartford flights will be on Fridays and Mondays. Avelo is also adding flights between Hartford and Daytona Beach on Fridays and Mondays and between Wilmington, North Carolina and Fort Myers on Thursdays and Sundays. One-way introductory fares for these new Avelo routes range from $34 to $49.


And Breeze is expanding its operations rapidly in Sarasota. Starting on November 20th, the low-cost airline will add 5 new routes from the city on Florida's Gulf Coast. These new routes will connect Sarasota to Akron-Canton, Ohio, and Portland, Maine, with flights on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The next day, Breeze will add flights to Islip on Long Island, with service on Thursdays and Sundays. In addition, on November 22nd, the airline will begin offering flights to Raleigh-Durham and Richmond, with flights scheduled for Fridays and Mondays. The one-way airfares for these new routes start as low as $49 to Akron-Canton and Richmond and up to $79 to Portland.

Major airlines expand Caribbean connectivity

Several major US airlines are expanding their Caribbean route networks.


American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and JetBlue Airways are all adding new non-stop flights to popular Caribbean destinations. American and Delta are both launching new service to Barbados, while JetBlue is starting a new route to Bonaire. In addition, Delta is introducing a new flight to Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic, and Avelo Airlines is adding a new route from Hartford, Connecticut, to Montego Bay, Jamaica.


American's new service from New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Barbados will depart at 7 a.m. and arrive at 12:44 p.m. Delta's new flight from Atlanta to Barbados will operate with a 9:58 a.m. departure and 3:35 p.m. arrival. Delta's new non-stop from Atlanta to Puerto Plata will have an 11:25 a.m. departure and 3:30 p.m. arrival.


JetBlue's new flight from JFK to Bonaire will depart at 7 a.m. and arrive just after 12:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Saturdays, with one-way fares starting at $99.


Avelo's new service from Hartford to Montego Bay will depart at 7:20 a.m. and land in Jamaica a little over 4 hours later at 11:30 a.m. One-way fares for this route start at $127.

Fresh choices to reach Mexico's coastlines

For travelers eager to experience Mexico's beautiful beaches, Alaska Airlines and Avelo are introducing 2 new flight options. Alaska Airlines is resuming its service to La Paz in Baja California, with flights departing Los Angeles on Wednesdays and Saturdays starting November 20th. The economy airfare for these flights, which depart LAX at 10:35 a.m. and arrive shortly before 2 p.m., start at $232 one way. Alaska last operated this LAX-La Paz route from 1997 to 2013, according to data from the aviation analytics firm Cirium Diio.


Avelo Airlines is also offering Hartford travelers a new way to get to Cancun, with flights on Wednesdays and Saturdays starting November 20th. The one-way airfare for this just over 4-hour flight, which departs Hartford at 6 a.m., starts at $143.

Delta unveils new East Coast routes to Hawaii

Delta is expanding its flight operations to the Hawaiian islands. Starting on November 21st, the airline will offer new non-stop flights from Atlanta and Boston. From Atlanta, Delta will fly daily to Kahului Airport (OGG) on the island of Maui, a route they previously operated during the winter of 2022-23. The flight will depart Atlanta a little after 1 p.m. and arrive at 6 p.m. local time. In addition, Delta will connect Boston and Honolulu with a daily flight that will take approximately 11 hours, departing New England at 10:15 a.m. and arriving in Hawaii at 4:41 p.m. Airfares for the Atlanta-Maui route start at $830 one way, while the Boston-Honolulu route starts at $218 one way.

United touches down in Medellin

United Airlines is expanding its route network. Starting on November 13th, the airline will add the vibrant city of Medellin, Colombia to its lineup. Passengers will be able to fly from United's hub in Houston to Medellin in a flight time of around 4 and a half hours. The flight will depart Houston in the late afternoon, at approximately 4:30 p.m.
