The
Disney's Hollywood Studios will be transforming the iconic "Rock 'N' Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith" into a Muppets-themed attraction, as announced by the Disney Parks Blog on Friday.
Here's what Disney shared:
"We know many of you love The Muppets and we think their energy will be a perfect fit for this coaster. This will be the first Disney ride to feature The Muppets, so there's sure to be lots of laughter, screams, and new tunes for fans to enjoy throughout the adventure. Plus, there'll be plenty of Muppets-themed merchandise available on Sunset Boulevard!"
No timeline has been provided for the closure of the existing attraction or the opening of the reimagined ride. However, Disney assured that there's still ample time for park-goers to experience the current "Rock 'N' Roller Coaster."
The "Rock 'N' Roller Coaster" debuted in 1999, starring the famous rock band Aerosmith. Earlier this year, the ride underwent an extensive refurbishment, and there had been long-standing rumors about its future.
The announcement is exciting news for Disney fans who have been requesting more Muppet representation in the theme parks. This change also comes as Disney continues to experience success with the 2023 Disney+ series, The Muppets Mayhem.

Disney has shared an update on the previously announced Monsters, Inc. land, which was revealed earlier this year at D23. The new land, the first ever dedicated to Monsters, Inc., will feature a suspended roller coaster that recreates the film's door vault scene, as well as shopping, dining, and a new theater show.
The new Monsters, Inc. land will replace the existing Muppets Courtyard. This area is currently home to "Muppet*Vision 3D" and several dining locations, including Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano and PizzeRizzo, which will all be closed to make way for the new development.
Muppet*Vision 3D is a long-time fan favorite that opened in 1991. It's also one of the last projects Jim Henson worked on before his death. Disney is already making preparations to preserve the attraction and Henson's legacy.
As these changes are made, Disney is having creative conversations and exploring ways to preserve the film and other parts of the experience for fans to enjoy in the future.
The news comes at a time of great changes at Walt Disney World. Other reimagining projects include a new Cars-themed land coming to Magic Kingdom and an Encanto-themed attraction coming to Disney's Animal Kingdom Park.
