The company has announced that from December 7th to December 13th, children 12 years old and younger can ski or snowboard for free. This promotion is available at popular resorts across the United States and Canada.
Here's what Jared Smith, the president and CEO of the Alterra Mountain Company, said in a statement:
"Winter is here, and we want to help families get on the mountain this season. We hope Kids Ski Free Week will ignite an excitement around skiing and snowboarding and help start a lifelong passion the entire family can enjoy for years to come."
The promotion is valid at 15 different resorts, including Steamboat and Winter Park in Colorado; Palisades Tahoe, Mammoth Mountain, Big Bear Mountain Resort, and Snow Valley in California; Stratton and Sugarbush Resort in Vermont; Snowshoe Mountain in West Virginia; Crystal Mountain in Washington; Schweitzer in Idaho; Deer Valley Resort and Solitude Mountain Resort in Utah; Tremblant in Quebec and Blue Mountain in Ontario, Canada, which is subject to an opening date.
To get a free lift ticket, visitors should go to the guest services at participating resorts or check the individual destination's website. The free tickets don't cover rentals or lessons.
As an extra offer, Stratton and Schweitzer are giving free tickets to anyone 17 years old or younger.
The Alterra Mountain Company owns 19 resorts and heli-skiing operations. They also own and operate the popular Ikon Pass, which provides unlimited access to 17 different destinations and up to 7 days in 42 other destinations. For the 2024/2025 season, the Ikon Pass is available for $1,449.
In addition to the unlimited Ikon Pass, the company offers other options like the Ikon Base Pass, which has more limited access and is currently $1,019, and the Ikon Session Pass, which provides 2-, 3-, and 4-day access and starts at $329.
