In late 2023, TikTok user @sarowarrr posted a video of himself asking a Delta pilot for a trading card. He got 2 shiny cards showcasing the airline's aircraft. The clip exploded online, racking up over 20 million views and highlighting a program many Delta flyers had never heard of.

Delta told People magazine that employees started the trading card program over 20 years ago to share their love for flying. The cards feature "a different aircraft in [Delta's] fleet corresponding to the type of aircraft each pilot flies."

Travelers can collect cards of the Airbus A220, A320, A330, and A350 series; the Boeing 737, 757, and 767 series; and the Canadair CRJ-900. The collections are updated every 5 years.

Some pilots might not have time to chat or might run out of cards to hand out (especially as more people find out about the program), but it's always a good idea to ask for a cool souvenir from your flight.

"When they're not busy prepping for flights or flying our customers to their next adventure, our pilots with these popular cards are happy to hand one out to any customer who asks nicely; they enjoy adding to, or starting, their new favorite collection," a Delta spokesperson told People.

Delta isn't the only airline providing passengers with a special keepsake. United Airlines has launched a trading card program, and some foreign airlines, like Taiwan's Eva Air, offer unique trading cards as well.

A standout collectible is KLM's miniature Delft Blue houses. Each year, on October 7, KLM introduces a new house inspired by real buildings in the Netherlands. By early 2025, the collection boasts 105 houses, with each house containing a tiny bottle of Dutch gin.

To snag one, you need to fly overseas in the airline's business class. Those fortunate enough to receive the houses can track their collection using a special app.

Lastly, Lufthansa, Germany's flag carrier, has a treat for first-class passengers in Frankfurt and Munich. Guests can grab a beloved rubber duck in the First Class Lounge.

These ducks feature fun designs, from city themes to holiday specials. If you want one but aren't flying first class soon, don't worry – these adorable ducks often appear on eBay.
