"Solo travelers want places with rich culture and stunning scenery, combined with freedom and customized service," said Matt Cammaert, Kensington's SVP of marketing. "They look for the space to explore their way while enjoying expert help, special access, and tailored plans that match their interests."
A new report shows that India is the top solo travel spot for 2025. "From the lively streets of Jaipur to the peaceful backwaters of Kerala, India's variety ensures every traveler discovers something amazing," said Anit Singh, Kensington's expert for the region. "With great hotels, famous wellness retreats, and a rich history, it's clear why India remains popular with solo adventurers seeking excitement and personal growth."
Singh noted that India, along with Egypt and Thailand, ranked No. 4 and No. 5, "offers a mix of cultural richness, spiritual journeys, and unmatched hospitality."
The report focuses only on insights from "affluent" travelers, based on Kensington's 2024 data and 2 surveys done with Opinium Research and Dig Insight.

It also pointed out that while solo travel declined after the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, it's been growing in recent years. "Our Affluent Traveler Survey shows that nearly 76% of our audience is very to somewhat eager to travel alone internationally in the next 3 years, and a small majority is more interested now," the report states.
