Tired of long airport lines? How can NYC travelers breeze through security this spring?

As the busy summer travel season approaches, there's a new way for travelers to save time!
TSA PreCheck, a security program from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), lets travelers breeze through security lines. Members use a special line and keep their shoes and laptops in bags, making airport security a lot quicker. With over 20 million members, it's a hit with travelers.
If you want to join but haven't had time to set up an appointment, there are several pop-up events in NYC this spring.
Telos Corporation, an authorized TSA enrollment provider, will hold 2 enrollment events at Rockefeller Center and inside the MetLife Building near Grand Central Station from March 25, 2025 to March 29, 2025. These locations also host ItsEasy, a passport and visa expediting service that's teamed up with Telos for these events.
The event will be from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on March 25 and 28, and 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on March 26 and 27. On March 29, it'll go from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
It'll be at the MetLife Building Lobby, 200 Park Ave., New York, NY 10166, and 30 Rockefeller Plaza, Floor 1, New York, NY 10112, on the Concourse Level.
Travelers need appointments at both spots, which they can book through the TSA's website, and can choose any pop-up location. TSA PreCheck lasts 5 years and costs $85 to start.
For pop-up appointments, travelers will have their photo taken, fingerprints scanned, identity confirmed, and payment collected. A TSA rep said most travelers get their TSA eligibility in 3 to 5 days.
If you're not in NYC or can't make it to the pop-ups, there are many other TSA-authorized enrollment centers available.
Check the TSA PreCheck Enrollment Centers website to find a location nearby by entering your zip code or city. Some locations include Staples and Office Depot, managed by companies like Telos, Idemia, and CLEAR.
Many big airports have options to sign up for TSA PreCheck like LAX and JFK.
Some credit cards and airline loyalty programs offer TSA PreCheck as a free perk. You can find a list of these cards, including those from American Express and Chase, on the TSA website. Loyalty programs like IHG One Rewards, Marriott Bonvoy, and United Mileage Plus are also included.
