Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport's monthly total passenger count fell below the number from the same month in 2021 for the first time in 2022.
According to a report released on July 27 by the Phoenix Aviation Department, the total number of passengers who traveled through Sky Harbor in June was 3,617,586, which was more than 21,000 less than the total number of passengers that used Sky Harbor in June 2021 for either takeoffs or landings.
Sky Harbor has been edging toward 2019 statistics for the majority of 2022, but due to the commercial airline sector's difficulty meeting demand this summer, Sky Harbor's passenger numbers fell by 0.6 percent from June 2018 as well as 5.5 percent from June 2019.
Although consumer demand for flying has increased this summer despite high ticket prices, airlines have not been able to keep up, primarily because of staffing shortages. Throughout the first few months of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, when commercial travel all but ceased, many airlines let employees go or encouraged them to retire early.
Airlines have had difficulty filling positions quickly, particularly for pilots, as the spread of Covid-19 has considerably slowed and travel demand has increased. As a result, airlines have had to remove flights from their schedules and cancel them when there were insufficient pilots, crews, and aircraft to conduct operations.
13,963 flights in total touched down at Sky Harbor in June, which is 3.9 percent less than in 2021 and 6.7 percent less than in 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic.
The main airline operating out of Sky Harbor, American Airlines (Nasdaq: AAL), landed 766 fewer flights in June than in June 2021, and its total passenger volume fell by 7.3% to 1.48 million.
Southwest Airlines (NYSE: LUV), the second-largest airline at the airport, saw a 4 percent and 5.7 percent growth in passengers and landings compared to the same month last year.
Sky Harbor finished its fiscal year in June with a total of 43,939,105 passengers passing through its terminals and concourses over a year. The overall number of passengers was up 17.2 million, or 64 percent, from the fiscal year 2020-2021.
By the way, we would like to give you one helpful tip – such information will be handy for those who prefer traveling by air and getting to the airport by their own car.
There is no question that a safe parking space must be arranged for your vehicle during a trip. However, in most cases, people aren't ready to spend a lot of money on this. It is a common problem among travelers, as they know that on-site parking (it may seem that it is the best option for this case) is pretty costly. So what can we do then?
We are glad to inform you that our booking platform, ParkingNearAirports.io, offers travelers online reservations for parking just outside airports that are convenient and affordable. Our experienced team is dedicated to providing travelers parking options at over 100 airports in the U.S. and Canada. In addition, the app allows customers to search and compare parking rates at up to 70 percent savings compared to the cost of on-site parking at all major airports.
Being nearby doesn't always mean convenience when it comes to airport parking. Being in terminal parking is not convenient at all. Travelers have to find a spot in a crowded lot, carry their luggage throughout the parking lot, and pay high fees without great service. The off-airport parking provides excellent service with their award-winning customer service representatives available 24/7. In addition, the app looks for lots that offer baggage assistance and 24-hour security for peace of mind.
With our platform, it only takes a few clicks in the app to reserve a parking spot. Guests receive a booking confirmation and a guaranteed parking space upon arrival at the off-airport parking. In addition, the app helps customers locate the most convenient lots to the airport. Cancellations are easy if plans change with hassle-free, refundable cancellations.
Off-airport parking lots often provide free shuttle going back and forth between the parking lot and the airport, removing any worry of traveling to and from the airport or getting stuck in traffic on the way to the airport during peak hours. Arrive on time for flights and receive significant savings with airport parking.
Besides this, we also offer services for top cruise ports in Florida, Louisiana, Maryland, New Jersey, and Texas.
Let's take a good example. Imagine that you live in Phoenix, Arizona. If you're planning a trip to Jacksonville, Florida, you can choose cheap off-site parking Sky Harbor Airport.
