In Mexico, the Riviera Maya has been a popular destination with numerous beachfront resorts and a vibrant nightlife scene. Now, travelers seeking a more relaxed, bohemian atmosphere can head further south to Tulum's new Felipe Carrillo Puerto International Airport (TQO), which recently started welcoming international flights.

Visitors to Tulum no longer need to go through the hassle of reaching Cancun International Airport (CUN), saving them a two-hour journey. The new airport is conveniently located just a 30-minute drive away from Tulum's famous beaches and Mayan ruins.

Leading domestic airlines like American, Delta, and United have initiated direct flights to Tulum, with more routes in the pipeline. This expansion opens up additional travel options to Mexico for passengers from various US cities.

Three of American's main airports provide direct flights to Tulum, as the airline initiated service to the new international airport on its opening day last week. American Airlines offers a daily service from Charlotte (CLT) and Miami (MIA) following this schedule:

  • Charlotte (CLT) departure at 11:07 a.m., arrival in Tulum (TQO) at 1:20 p.m.
  • Tulum (TQO) departure at 2:20 p.m., arrival in Charlotte (CLT) at 6:24 p.m.
  • Miami (MIA) departure at 12:05 p.m., arrival in Tulum (TQO) at 1:15 p.m.
  • Tulum (TQO) departure at 2:15 p.m., arrival in Miami (MIA) at 5:10 p.m.

Moreover, travelers can opt for two daily flights from the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) hub, departing either in the morning or midday. American provides two afternoon flights from Tulum, bringing travelers back to Dallas-Fort Worth before early evening. All three routes are completed in less than three hours and are serviced by a Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

Also, starting March 28th, Delta Air Lines introduced year-round flights to Tulum from its major hub at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), providing convenient connections to over 300 cities in the US and worldwide. While Atlanta currently stands as the exclusive airport offering direct flights to Tulum, there's a possibility that Delta will expand its services from cities like New York, Detroit, and Minneapolis in the future.

Delta's current Atlanta-Tulum flight lasts just under three hours and is operated using their narrow-body 737-800 aircraft. The airline has scheduled flights tailored for resort travelers, with a single daily departure from Atlanta at 11:10 a.m., arriving in Tulum at 1 p.m. local time. Departing from Tulum, the flight takes off at 2:25 p.m. and lands in Atlanta at 6:08 p.m.

JetBlue's upcoming Tulum route is set to begin on June 13th, departing daily from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York and reaching Tulum in less than 4.5 hours. Travelers can look forward to a year-round service with a morning departure from New York's JFK at 7:55 a.m. and a return from Tulum at 12:45 p.m., arriving back in New York at 5:50 p.m. Passengers will have the pleasure of flying on JetBlue's reliable Airbus A320 aircraft, complete with amenities like live TV, complimentary Wi-Fi, and in-flight snacks.

JetBlue, known for its leisure-oriented services, has been operating in Mexico for almost twenty years. The addition of the Tulum route enhances the airline's existing flights to other popular vacation destinations, such as Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, and Los Cabos.

In addition, United Airlines plans to launch seasonal service from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) in time for Memorial Day weekend, starting on May 23rd. The airline will use a Boeing 737-900 aircraft for all four new routes to Tulum, offering a maximum of 22 weekly flights during peak times.

In the previous fall, budget-friendly Spirit Airlines unveiled its intentions to introduce flights to Tulum from two significant Florida airports, Orlando (MCO) and Fort Lauderdale (FLL), on March 28th. Nevertheless, the airline subsequently delayed the commencement date for these Tulum routes indefinitely due to engine part limitations within its aircraft fleet.

You might be surprised about this fact because most people are confident that on-site parking is the best choice when you're traveling by air. But, actually, it's not true, and we'll explain why.

People who prefer to get to the airport by car think that it's the most convenient option since on-site parking is the nearest place to the airport where it's possible to park a vehicle safely for the period of a trip. However, they make a huge mistake, as there is a big chance to face many following difficulties:

  • You will need to find a spot in a crowded lot,
  • You will need to carry the luggage all the way through the parking lot,
  • You must pay expensive fees without great service, and much more.

Sounds not so good, right? But there is one great solution in this situation – an off-site parking option!

The off-site parking service has many advantages, which will definitely convince you to change your choice during the next trip:

  • First of all, it's much cheaper. On-site parking can become too costly for you, as the price for such a parking type might equal half the value of the whole trip. The cost of the off-site parking, in turn, will be not so high, offering alongside free shuttles going back and forth between the parking lot and the airport.
  • Secondly, it's much faster. By choosing an on-site parking option, you'll be needed to find a free spot in a crowded lot, which takes a lot of time. However, by selecting an off-site parking option, you'll be able to drive directly to the entrance, where staff members will help you to pull your luggage out of your vehicle and load it into the shuttle, as well as park your car securely for you. Finally, a free shuttle will bring you and your bags to the airport.
  • Thirdly, it's much more convenient. No more worries about being late to the airport and your flight – the off-site parking is a hassle-free option that is usually faster. Since you use the services of a private company, people want to be sure you're satisfied with the quality and comfort of the services provided, so you don't need to wrack your brain about the quick path to the airport anymore.
