Here's what Claude Roussel, the VP of Sky Clubs and lounge experience for Delta, said in the interview:
"Because the lounge is 35,000 square feet, we divided the space to ensure it's well-balanced. We have a significant volume in New York, so when we design these clubs, we don't plan for the initial opening day, but for the future, as we can't expand the walls once the space is built."
Roussel added:
"We were fortunate to secure prime real estate, with incredible views, high ceilings, making this a truly beautiful club."
The lounge now features an all-seasons sky deck overlooking the runway, with the ability to control the temperature in winter and open up the roof for a refreshing breeze in the summer. Comfortable lounge chairs and a high bar for working are available, all offering views of the planes taking off.
The expansion also includes a new premium bar and more than 100 additional seats.

The lounge you're referring to opened in 2022 as part of Delta's terminal expansion at LaGuardia Airport, merging terminals C and D. This once-criticized airport has now been transformed, boasting high ceilings, local artwork, and high-end retail options, including the upstate New York cosmetics brand Beekman 1802.
In addition to the new amenities, the lounge welcomes travelers with wireless charging stations, several private phone booths for quiet moments, and an impressive buffet featuring cuisine curated by a rotating selection of renowned local chefs. This month, the lounge featured dishes from Einat Admony, the chef behind New York's fine-dining Middle Eastern restaurant Balaboosta and the falafel chain Taïm.
"It's great exposure for chefs – there are a lot of eyeballs on that collab and [it's] just fun," Admony shared as she served hors d'oeuvres, including a sabich tostada, a take on the classic Middle Eastern sandwich with eggplant and hard-boiled eggs.
Admony, a huge fan of Delta, hopes her food will be the perfect send-off for travelers. This is her second time collaborating with the airline.
"My goal is to expose passengers to new flavors, sauces, and cooking techniques that they can take with them and get inspired by," she said.
The expansion of the Sky Club comes as Delta seeks to control the number of passengers who can access its lounges. Starting in 2025, the airline will implement limits on visits from applicable credit card holders.
Roussel explained:
"The changes to access aren't just for next year, but for the long-term future of our Sky Club. With more and more card members and a growing population, we have to address the ebb and flow. Our business isn't focused on the short-term, but on the next 5 to 7 years."
