In early December, Pinterest released its annual Pinterest Predicts report. It shows what the platform thinks will be big trends in the coming year. The report covers everything from food to decor, beauty, and party planning. It also highlights the travel trends that Pinterest users are showing more interest in. Pinterest believes these could become major travel destinations.
For 2025, Pinterest says it's all about "peak travel." According to their findings, "Cities have totally peaked. In 2025, mountain ranges will become the go-to travel destination as Gen Z and Gen X seek out treetop views and fresh mountain air. Get ready for your next elevacation."

According to the platform, Portillo, Chile, has seen a significant increase in searches, with a 255% rise year over year. The Dolomites in Italy and the Atlas Mountains in Morocco have also experienced impressive growth, with 45% and 30% increases, respectively, over the same period. Unsurprisingly, with the popularity of mountain getaways, "skiing fits" and "mountain trip" outfits have also seen major spikes in interest.
To further capitalize on this trend, Pinterest has announced a partnership with Marriott for a pop-up event in NYC called the "Peak Travel Concierge." At this activation, guests will be able to learn more about the concept of "peak travel" and discover destinations that fit this trend. Attendees will even have the chance to enter a sweepstakes to win trips to Cloudveil Jackson Hole and a Marriott Homes & Villas property of their choice. However, the event will only be open on December 11th and 12th at 173 Elizabeth Street in NYC, so interested individuals should plan accordingly.
While the initial focus was on travel trends, the report also mentioned the emergence of "Castlecore," a concept that's making a strong comeback. If you're interested in exploring this trend, here's a list of 20 castles that everyone should visit at least once in their lifetime.
