  • American will start testing free Wi-Fi on 3 domestic routes, 2 leaving from Charlotte.
  • Other airlines, like Delta, have already expanded free Wi-Fi for their members.

American Airlines is stepping up its customer experience by testing free Wi-Fi on 3 routes: Charlotte (CLT) to Raleigh Durham (RDU), Charlotte (CLT) to Jacksonville (JAX), and Miami (MIA) to Chicago O'Hare (ORD).

For travelers flying out of Charlotte, Charlotte Airport overnight parking options are available for those needing a convenient place to leave their vehicle. If you're heading to Raleigh Durham, comparing RDU parking prices can help you find the best deal. In addition, for those looking for parking close to the airport, services like ParkingNearAirports.io offer solutions to make your trip smoother.

"With our new Customer Experience organization led by Chief Customer Officer Heather Garboden, American Airlines is more committed than ever to improving our customers' travel journey," the airline shared. "Staying connected in the sky is important to today's travelers. This limited-time free Wi-Fi test helps us explore ways to enhance our offerings, stay competitive, and meet customer needs."

American now gives free Wi-Fi, texting, and streaming to T-Mobile customers on domestic flights. Other limited packages start at $10 per flight, while frequent fliers can get full Wi-Fi subscriptions beginning at $49.95.

This step helps American compete, as other airlines have already gone this route. United Airlines revealed in January that it would launch free Wi-Fi for MileagePlus members using Elon Musk's Starlink by spring. Delta announced 2 years ago it would offer free Wi-Fi on most domestic and some international flights for SkyMiles members and recently struck a deal with DraftKings and YouTube for in-flight services.

American hasn't set a timeline for its fleet rollout yet.
