The channel CBS New York reported that a passenger of the U.S. regional company Republic Airways was detained because of suspicious behavior onboard the plane.
According to the channel, the police of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said the allegedly suspicious behavior of a passenger was reported by other people traveling on that flight. According to law enforcement officials, the passenger was detained and is being questioned.
Republic Airways itself noted the plane "declared an emergency and landed without incident at New York's LaGuardia Airport due to the behavior of a passenger near the end of the flight". After landing, the flight's passengers were evacuated.
"Law enforcement and first responders met the plane, and the passenger involved in the incident was taken into custody," the airline added, apologizing to passengers.
A total of 76 passengers and six crew members were on the plane. No injuries were reported, the channel noted.
